CareChoice provides the highest standards of nursing and convalescent care throughout Ireland. With over 20 years of experience in the nursing home sector, they have created a state-of-the-art care environment that makes residents feel secure, feel comfortable and, most importantly, feel at home. They sought out a managed service provider experienced in the health care sector that could provide them with nationwide support for their digital transformation strategy, so they came to us.
Organisations in the health care sector operate under the highest level of scrutiny. In turn, there is a strong dependency on their IT function to enable users to perform daily tasks in a secure and efficient manner. That’s why it is so important that they work with a managed service provider that can support and enhance their capabilities.
CareChoice have set a high standard when it comes to excellence in patient care. They wanted to bring all their homes to the same standard of IT, whilst centralising and securing their data. They were utilising a mix of technologies, including traditional RDS technologies for finance and SSL VPN for other users. At the same time, their data was centralised and offered users limited flexibility to work from any location. What’s more, the platform they were using proved to be unstable. This created not only huge productivity headaches but also some possibly disastrous security challenges.
We started with a comprehensive consultation and in-depth, holistic review of all their IT infrastructure. From this, our experts recommended centralising all their IT infrastructure in Azure and utilising the current M365 licenses to provision a locked down and secure Microsoft Azure virtual desktop. These were not just cost-effective solutions, they were also ever-green ones that would ensure their IT was always up to date.
Azure Virtual Desktop is the only virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) that delivers simplified management, multi-session Windows 10, optimisations for Microsoft 365 Apps and support for Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments. Multi-session Windows 10 allows multiple concurrent users to connect – meaning that Windows 10 may be used as a remote desktop session host server. This technology not only saves organisations money and time, it greatly reduces risk through secure desktops from any device. This allows employees to stay productive and secure from anywhere.
Using AVD has allowed CareChoice’s remote users to access a central secure data and application repository, without the need to use VPN’s. It has also allowed our experts to secure CareChoice’s desktops and endpoints, by locking down the corporate cloud desktop and rolling out ThinClients, rather than buying expensive desktop.
By adopting the Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, CareChoice now has a centralised, robust and resilient desktop solution. One that can scale on demand and, as CareChoice expands, allow new homes to integrate easily into their IT systems. Most importantly, the solution we provided them also fits into their wider security and business continuity plans.
