The Senior Level 2 Engineer will be critical in delivering managed IT services for clients specialising in Citrix environments, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and Citrix NetScaler. This position requires advanced technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a Managed Service Provider environment. The engineer will maintain high availability, performance, and security of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions while supporting client projects, escalations, and general support issues.
Key Responsibilities

- Citrix Environment Management
- Design, deploy, and manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain Citrix NetScaler for load balancing, SSL offloading, and secure remote access, ICA proxy and SSL VPN’s.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Citrix components such as StoreFront, profile management, and application delivery.
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Administration:
- Implement and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop solutions, including provisioning, scaling, and monitoring.
- Optimize AVD performance using tools such as FSLogix for user profile management.
- Ensure compliance with best practices for security and scalability within Azure environments.
- Infrastructure Support:
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for virtual desktop environments hosted on-premises or in the cloud.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement virtualisation solutions tailored to client needs.
- Monitor system health and performance metrics to ensure optimal uptime.
- Networking and Security:
- Manage networking configurations related to VDI setups, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall rules.
- Implement security measures such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) and encryption to safeguard client environments.
- Automation & Optimization:
- Leverage scripting tools like PowerShell to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning for Citrix and AVD infrastructures.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, incidents resolved, and areas for improvement.
- Client Interaction:
- Act as a technical point of contact for escalated client issues.
- Participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements or resolve high-priority concerns.
- Deliver training sessions or knowledge-sharing workshops for clients or team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Proven experience managing Citrix environments (e.g., XenApp/XenDesktop) and NetScaler ADC.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), including deployment in multi-zone or hybrid setups.
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server environments.
- Familiarity with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Proficiency with PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP) and VPN technologies.
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
